Growing up in the “yachting capital of the world,” Fort Lauderdale, Florida, made boating at the age of 7 seem normal. My initial boating experience took place on Lake Mayan, right in front of the Lago Mar Hotel and Beach Club in Fort Lauderdale. I learned how to captain a boat using a hand tiller and a 6hp Mercury engine. This engine had neutral and forward only; for reverse, you spun the engine 180 degrees. Combining that 6hp engine with a 9’ hydrofoil resulted in a boat that went straight up on plane as soon as the engine engaged. That early training and experience significantly contributed to my boating skills and taught me how to approach a dock.

Currently, we own a Boston Whaler 27’ Dauntless. My wife, dogs, and I regularly enjoy “day boating” with friends and family. In September 2023, we embarked on our first trip from Stuart, FL, to Cape Coral, FL, navigating through Lake Okeechobee. It was an incredible adventure, and we’re eagerly anticipating the next one! Most weekends find us cruising the intracoastal waterways and the Atlantic Ocean coastline, anywhere from Stuart, FL, down to Miami, FL. My wife and I relish turning up the music, soaking in the sun, stopping at sandbars for socializing, and dining at waterfront restaurants.

One of my greatest accomplishments was getting my wife, Lisa, to say YES. The second was finding a fulfilling career in the marine industry.
